Use a proxy

Certain enterprises require the use of proxy servers to connect to your network. When this is the case, you will need to set up a proxy connection in ShareGate Migrate. If you would like to know more about proxy servers, see the Microsoft article Working with Proxy Servers.

Prerequisites

You have accessed your connection screen.

How-to

1. Toggle on Connect using a proxy.
2. Enter the Proxy host (domain name) of your SharePoint site.
3. Specify your port number. By default, port 80 is used for HTTP traffic. For a list of network ports used by key Microsoft server products, see Network Ports Used by Key Microsoft Server Products.
4. Sign in with the appropriate Host authentication information:
   • Current Windows user: Connect using your current Windows session credentials.
   • Other user: Connect by manually entering a username and password.
   • Same as above authentication: Connect using the same credentials you entered for Authentication above.
5. Enter your Username if needed.
6. Enter your Password if needed.
7. Click Connect.

You will then be brought back to the connection screen to finalize your other connection options. For information on setting up a connection, see Connect to SharePoint and Microsoft 365.

Verify your proxy information

You can verify your proxy information in Windows with these steps:

1. Select the Windows icon/Start button on the Windows taskbar.
2. Type Control Panel.
3. Select Control Panel.
4. Go to Network and Internet -> Internet Options.
5. Select the Connections tab.
6. Click LAN settings.

In the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings dialog, you can see your proxy information in the Proxy server section.
