Symptoms
When attempting to save new entries in the report or to read old entries, Sharegate signals that the operation failed and gives the following message:
There was an error while trying to update the migration report. This may happen because the report file is corrupted.

Any error code ending with: -138 |
Details
This error normally happens because the database file where Sharegate stores all the migration reports is corrupted. The file can be found at this location: C:\Users\AppData\Local\Sharegate\Sharegate.Reporting.vdb5
Solution
If the corruption was simply with the operation that was in progress, retrying might resolve the issue. If the issue persist, here are the options:
- If you don't need to preserve the migration reports for all the operations that you have performed in the past with Sharegate, you can close Sharegate, delete the file at " C:\Users\AppData\Local\Sharegate\Sharegate.Reporting.vdb5" and then reopen Sharegate.
- If you do need to preserve the values, you can contact us at support@sharegate.com and we will give you instructions to send us your reporting file. As a temporary solution to continue working with Sharegate while not losing your past migration reports, you can close Sharegate, rename the file at "C:\Users\AppData\Local\Sharegate\Sharegate.Reporting.vdb5" and then reopen Sharegate.
