Templates let you define the structure and settings of new teams created by your end-users.

How-to
Create a new template
Basics
- Select Provisioning from the sidebar.
- Select
- Enter a template name.
- Add a template description (optional).
- Select
Requirements
- Select a minimum number of owners for teams created with the template.
- Add a naming convention (prefix, suffix, or both) to the template.
- Naming conventions appear as part of provisioned team names and cannot be modified by end-users.
- You can click the toggle to disable this feature.
- If desired, click the toggle to require approval for teams created with this template (disabled by default).
- If activated:
- Start typing the name of a co-worker you wish to assign as an approver, then select their name from the drop-down list that appears.
- Try to add several template approvers. It only takes one response to complete a team creation request.
- You must add yourself as an approver if you wish to approve team creation requests.
- Start typing the name of a co-worker you wish to assign as an approver, then select their name from the drop-down list that appears.

Note: If your tenant has group creation restrictions, your co-workers will only be able to use templates that require approval.
Policies
- Select a privacy level for teams created with the template.
- Select a sensitivity tag for teams created with the template.
- You can click the toggle to disable this feature.
- Select a purpose tag for teams created with the template.
- You can click the toggle to disable this feature.
- Select
SharePoint
- If desired, click the toggle to attach an active SharePoint site as a blueprint.
- If activated:
- Start typing the name of the desired SharePoint site, then select from the drop-down list that appears.
- Select View site at any point to view the SharePoint site in your browser.
- Select whether you want the template to copy the blueprint site's Structure only or its Structure and Content.
- Start typing the name of the desired SharePoint site, then select from the drop-down list that appears.
- If desired, click the toggle to associate provisioned sites with a hub site.
- If activated:
- Click the drop-down and select the desired hub site from your tenant.
- If a hub site is enabled, SharePoint sites created via your template inherit the hub site's navigation structure and style settings.
- If an enabled hub site is deleted, a notification appears on the Provisioning page.
- Click the drop-down and select the desired hub site from your tenant.

Tip: Consider creating a site (or several sites) in SharePoint online specifically to be used as blueprint sites. Tailor those sites with the structure and content that you want your organization's provisioned teams to have by default.
Channels
- Select
to add default channel(s) for teams created with the template.
- Enter a channel name.
- Select a channel privacy level (public or private).
- Add a description (optional) for the channel(s).
- Select
to create your template.
When finished, you will be taken back to the Provisioning page.

Tips
- Your current configuration is shown under Create a template as you move through template creation. Click
to make adjustments at any point.
- Use the Back and Next buttons to navigate the template creation pages.
- There are no template drafts. Your progress isn't saved if you refresh your web browser or exit template creation at any point.
- Provisioning actions such as template creation and team creation from a template are shown in your activity log.
