What IP address does ShareGate Protect use?
ShareGate Protect is a browser-based application that interacts with your Microsoft 365 tenant.
The application uses the IP range 20.36.154.160/29 and communicates through HTTPS (port 443, TLS 1.2).
Additionally, Archive uses the IP address 20.220.147.86.
Tip: If your organization is secured with a firewall or proxy server, add the URL *.sharegate.com/ to your allowlist.
Which web browsers are supported by ShareGate?
ShareGate officially supports the most recent versions of the following web browsers:
- Firefox
- Chrome
- Edge
Other browsers may work with ShareGate Protect but are not officially supported. Due to some limitations, Internet Explorer is not supported.
Does ShareGate offer dark mode?
Yes, we offer dark mode for ShareGate Protect.
To enable dark mode:
- Open ShareGate Protect.
- Select the user icon, then select
My account from the dropdown menu.
- Navigate to Theme and click the dropdown arrow.
- Select Dark.
Can ShareGate tell me when teams are created or deleted?
Yes, ShareGate notifies you when teams are created or deleted in your tenant via our chatbot.

What is an initial crawl?
ShareGate regularly gathers and displays information about the teams and groups in your tenant. We call this activity crawling.
An initial crawl is performed when a global admin consents ShareGate on your tenant during the first sign-in.
How long does an initial crawl take?
The time it takes to complete the first crawl depends on a number of factors, including tenant size and the complexity of the teams and groups.
How can I keep track of the progress?
ShareGate crawls and displays your tenant information in batches. This means that your data is displayed as it becomes available.
There are 3 ways you can keep track of the initial crawl progress:
- From your dashboard - The message We're currently gathering the information from your tenant to X lets you know that the crawl is in progress. This message is replaced by data* when the crawl is complete.
- From the Manage page - The message You have X new teams ready! Refresh the page to view them all appears each time a batch of information is available. Click Refresh to update ShareGate Protect.
- Manage page tiles - A tile displays a pending state (...) while the initial crawl is in progress. When the information for that tile has been collected, a value will appear in the tile.
Note: *Your dashboard may display an empty state if no data is available during the initial crawl.
Can I start using ShareGate's features during the initial crawl?
You can start exploring Protect features as soon as your tenant's information becomes available. It is best practice to wait until the initial crawl is complete and all your data is ready.

Why does a global admin need to give one-time consent to access ShareGate Protect?
For the first connection only, a global administrator must consent to ShareGate on your tenant. This consent gives ShareGate the resources and permissions needed to crawl your environment. When complete, you can immediately take advantage of all ShareGate Protect and provisioning features.
Note: For the consent to take effect, the tenant requires an active SharePoint Online license.
Why is consent needed?
ShareGate is a multi-tenant application registered in the ShareGate Azure Active Directory as an Active Directory Application. ShareGate uses resources from Azure, Microsoft Graph, and SharePoint Online APIs to perform certain actions. Some of the permissions required are delegated permissions, which is why a global admin must consent on behalf of all users in your tenant.

Who can access ShareGate Protect?
Once a global administrator has consented ShareGate, any global admin, SharePoint admin, or groups admin can log in to ShareGate Protect with their Microsoft 365 account.
