Symptoms

While running a migration, the app returns the following error:

The Central Administration for site [sitename] could not be found.

Error code

  • IN-951-399
  • IN-952-399

Details

This error occurs when you have a custom URL (often called vanity URL) for your SharePoint Admin center, and the ShareGate migration tool app cannot locate the admin page.

Any custom domain name that differs from the standard format [name]-admin.sharepoint.com, resulting in the above error message during your migration.

Solution

To configure the ShareGate migration tool to point to the correct SharePoint admin center location:

  1. Update to the latest version of the ShareGate migration tool.
  2. Contact our support team.
